Forum: general Subject: Site integrity

There are a great number of illegal items on this site that are are not in the public domain and should still be protected by copyright law. They have been uploaded by people who are clearly not the owners of the material.
Just because something has become freely available illegally on the internet, does not automatically mean it is in the public domain. Works still have to be declared by the copyright owners or have expired the copyright period which is typically 70 years after the death of the artist but varies with certain circumstances.
Furthermore, uploads often have false information, even attributing wrong artists to the work.
Oh and the forum is being used as a second hand goods market and a social networking service. Can you believe that?

Unlike most other sites, this one has a negative attitude regarding copyright infringement.

I fully support the concept of collecting and preserving vintage works that are genuinely in the public domain or are no longer commercially available.
This site may have begun with good intentions of archiving works for posterity but without some kind of check on uploads it has no integrity and is worthless as an historical record.

Does anyone agree that this website has degenerated to the level of any other illegal download site?
