I believe that it is protected, but I am new at this, and I don't know why or if UA television could renew a copyright for Harner Brothers . . . until someone with more knowledge chimes in, I would consider it protected.

It's not uncommon for films to change hands over time.
wikipedia casts light on this particular case:
In February 1956, Jack Warner sold the rights to all of the studio's pre-1950 films to Associated Artists Productions (which merged with United Artists Television in 1958).
So there's nothing fishy about the renewal (the optical character recognition process mispelt Warner as Harner).
